Uzbekistan and UNDP to implement a joint project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and UNDP agreed to implement a project "Assistance in implementing the recommendations of the Charter and Treaty bodies of the United Nations in the Republic of Uzbekistan".

Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser signed the document on implementation of the project.

The project is aimed at assisting national partners in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The project will also support the monitoring of he implementation of the recommendations of the UN Charter and Treaty Bodies. Measures will also be taken to develop institutional capacity to implement the norms of international human rights treaties and develop the capacity of the National Center for Human Rights and law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ombudsman, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior Affairs, the Women’s Committee and the Chamber of Advocates will participate in the project.
