Uzbekistan and UK Discuss AI Implementation in Intellectual Property Examination
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Justice Muzraf Ikramov, held a working meeting in Newport with Adam Williams, Director General of the UK Intellectual Property Office.
During the talks, the parties discussed the examination of intellectual property applications using modern methods, the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, and the reduction of registration times for inventions and utility models through mutual recognition of expert opinions between the offices.
Special attention was given to the British experience in commercializing intellectual property, including the “IP Partners,” “IP Access,” and “IP Healthcare” initiatives, aimed at training in the use of intellectual property, generating additional revenue, and combating counterfeit products, with the possibility of implementing similar initiatives in Uzbekistan.
The delegation also participated in the “Counterfeit Products” exhibition in the UK market and familiarized themselves with the activities of the London police unit responsible for combating the circulation of counterfeit goods.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to jointly implement projects, including conducting a seminar with the London police on assessing damages to rights holders and preparing proposals for continuing Uzbekistan’s Intellectual Property Strategy for 2027–2030, building on the experience of the 2022–2026 strategy.
