Uzbekistan and UAE Companies Sign Agreement to Develop Small-Scale “Green” Power Plants

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy with Ali Alshimmari, CEO of the UAE-based company Global South Utilities (GSU), and Maddy Niraj Kumar, Chief Manager of Masdar.

In line with the objectives outlined by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the summit in the UAE capital earlier this year, several major green energy projects are being implemented with UAE companies. Currently, the total electricity generated by solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan exceeds 8 billion kWh.

To increase the share of small-scale renewable energy sources in the country, accelerate related initiatives, and implement new approaches, agreements were signed with GSU. The company will invest USD 27 million in “Yashil Energiya” LLC.

“Yashil Energiya” is engaged in the installation and operation of small-scale renewable energy facilities at social sector sites, government institutions, and other organizations.

Together with GSU, work will be accelerated on the construction of small solar and hydroelectric plants, as well as high-speed charging stations for electric vehicles. In addition, modern technical maintenance of these “green” energy facilities will be ensured.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to expedite efforts to expand the development of renewable energy sources.
