Uzbekistan and Türkiye Strengthen Cultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The second meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission’s Committee on Culture was held in Antalya, according to the “Dunyo” news agency.

The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Culture Murodjon Madjidov, while the Turkish side was headed by Batuhan Mumcu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the cultural sphere. Among the key agreements was the decision to hold Turkish Culture Days in Uzbekistan this year, as well as Türkiye’s participation in the opening ceremony of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.

Particular attention was given to joint projects on the production of films and TV series dedicated to the history and prominent figures of the Turkic world. The parties also agreed to expand scientific cooperation, including the study of cultural heritage preserved in Turkish archives and libraries, and to obtain facsimile copies of such documents.

A significant step will be the establishment of direct cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage and relevant Turkish academic institutions.

Both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to elevate cultural ties to a new level, promote the rich heritage of the Turkic world on the international stage, and pass on these cultural values to younger generations.

As part of the delegation’s visit to Türkiye, an official ceremony was held at the headquarters of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) in Ankara to introduce Shavkatjon Ortikov as the new representative of Uzbekistan to the organization. From this moment, he officially assumed his duties within TÜRKSOY.

The event was attended by TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Culture Murodjon Madjidov, staff of the Uzbek Embassy in Türkiye, as well as TÜRKSOY leadership and personnel.

In his remarks, Sultan Raev praised Uzbekistan’s contribution to the cultural heritage of the Turkic world, noting that cooperation with the republic grows stronger each year, particularly through the implementation of joint cultural initiatives. TÜRKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayyid Yusuf also highlighted that, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s cultural engagement with the Turkic world has become an integral part of the country’s open foreign policy. He noted that thanks to Uzbekistan’s active participation, TÜRKSOY has truly evolved into an international cultural platform.

The appointment of Shavkatjon Ortikov marks a key milestone in strengthening Uzbekistan’s role within TÜRKSOY and enhancing its presence in the cultural landscape of the Turkic nations.

This opens up new prospects for the advancement of cultural diplomacy and further deepens the unity and mutual understanding among nations bound by a shared historical and spiritual legacy.
