Uzbekistan and the U.S. Agree to Expand Cooperation in Healthcare

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, Asilbek Khudayarov, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation led by Jonathan Henick, U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the gradual strengthening of bilateral cooperation in medicine and highlighted a new level of relations following meetings between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and the U.S. at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The discussion focused on joint projects with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other organizations in areas such as tuberculosis prevention, respiratory diseases, hepatitis control, sanitation and epidemiology, as well as the provision of modern medical equipment to hospitals.

Special attention was given to the development of medical education, partnerships between Uzbek universities and U.S. institutions, the introduction of high-tech diagnostics, digitalization of healthcare, and medical insurance systems.

The parties also addressed joint pharmaceutical production and the manufacture of medicines.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further expand cooperation in healthcare, which participants noted will contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s healthcare system and strengthen bilateral ties.
