Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom Sign Memorandum on Labor Migration Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An official meeting took place in London between Behzod Musaev, Director of the Agency for Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, and Ravshan Usmanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, and Eliza McCaffrey, Chief Executive of the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA).

The GLAA is responsible for licensing private labor and recruitment agencies in agriculture and several other sectors in the United Kingdom, as well as monitoring their activities.

Following the discussions, the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan and the GLAA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of labor migration.

The agreements reached include expanding labor quotas for Uzbek citizens through British recruitment agencies and strengthening the protection of the rights of Uzbek labor migrants working in the United Kingdom.
