Uzbekistan and the UK discuss the implementation of joint projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with Minister for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of Great Britain, MP, Alan Duncan on 16 April 2019.

The sides considered prospects for expanding the Uzbek-British partnership, with a view to increasing the presence of British capital in Uzbekistan, implementing new investment projects and increasing trade in a number of product segments, reports the press service of the ministry.

During the dialogue, the parties were pleased to note the successful holding of the 24th meeting of the Uzbek-British Council on Trade and Industry (UBTIC) and the visit of the Uzbek delegation to London after that, stressing that such events greatly increase the level of cooperation between the two countries.

Prospects for cooperation to mitigate the environmental and socio-economic consequences of the drying of the Aral Sea were also discussed: the foreign side announced its readiness to consider financing the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region of Uzbekistan, having previously worked out the issue at the government level.
