Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan headed by director S. Kariev visited the UK to develop practical cooperation with British pharmaceutical organizations and educational institutions.
During the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Universities of De Monfort, Sunderland, Dundee and University College London.
At the talks, British partners were provided with information on the dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, plans for training specialists and conducting scientific research in this area, as well as the possibilities of cooperation in these areas. It was emphasized that the leadership of Uzbekistan decided to radically change the situation in this area by creating a new scientific and educational base, which should become a powerful basis for the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the country.
In this context, plans were noted for the creation in Uzbekistan of an international pharmaceutical university, which will have its own campus and a scientific and technical park, laboratories for in-depth scientific research on the development of new and popular medicines on the market with the establishment of their industrial production. This project is planned to be implemented within 3 years.
Director of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society P. Bennett noted that the plans of Uzbekistan are very ambitious and comprehensive. Their implementation will lead to a radical transformation of the country's pharmaceutical industry. He expressed the readiness of the Royal Society to cooperate with Uzbek partners in the implementation of these plans.
During the visit to the universities of De Montfort, Sunderland, Dundee and University College London, the delegation studied in detail the pharmacist training system and got acquainted with the priority areas of research, visited scientific laboratories and technology parks, as well as the living conditions of students on campuses. The British side expressed readiness to create an Uzbek-British pharmaceutical university and science park.
Following the talks, between the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Universities De Monfort, Sunderland and Dundee signed memorandums of cooperation, envisaging the development of partnerships in the scientific and educational sphere, in particular in the field of training and retraining of personnel for the pharmaceutical industry, conducting joint research, and also transfer of technology and knowledge to the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan.
