Uzbekistan and the OIC Agree on New Initiatives in Tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the 30th Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road” (TITF), a meeting was held with the OIC Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs, Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo.

The talks focused on further expanding cooperation among the OIC member states in the field of tourism.

The parties discussed support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting Islamic cultural heritage and developing ziyarat tourism, as well as improving the quality of professional training in the sector. Opportunities for establishing joint educational programs, exchanging expertise, and enhancing cooperation between specialized institutions were considered.

Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo highly praised Uzbekistan’s contribution to the successful organization of the International Tourism Week and the first-ever OIC Tourism Forum, noting the country’s growing role in strengthening multilateral cooperation within the organization.

Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their intention to advance new initiatives aimed at expanding tourism exchanges, promoting Islamic heritage, and strengthening intergovernmental ties in the areas of economy and tourism.
