Uzbekistan and the IMF Discuss Macroeconomic Stability and Infrastructure Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 November 2025, a meeting was held between a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Yasser Abdih, Head of the IMF Mission to Uzbekistan, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of the country’s economic development, including macroeconomic indicators, achieved results and future plans.

Particular attention was paid to ensuring macroeconomic stability, GDP growth, reducing inflation, transformation and privatization processes, the development of energy markets and the strengthening of market-based relations in this sector.

The discussions also covered public–private partnership (PPP) projects aimed at electricity supply, the development of transport infrastructure, the construction of modern airports and roads, support for the tourism sector and the creation of new jobs.

The meeting further addressed improvements in tax and customs administration, as well as measures to intensify efforts against the shadow economy.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue developing mutually beneficial cooperation and to expand the exchange of views between the IMF and Uzbekistan’s economic institutions.
