Uzbekistan and the EAEU to Launch Negotiations on Data Exchange on Goods and Transport
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, a decision was taken to begin negotiations on concluding an Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union, its member states, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the exchange of information on goods and international transport vehicles crossing customs borders.
The implementation of this agreement will make customs procedures faster and simpler, improve the effectiveness of customs control, and reduce discrepancies in foreign trade statistics. Information exchange will also help identify and prevent violations and strengthen mutual trust among the customs authorities of the participating countries.
In 2026, it is planned to approve negotiation directives, form a negotiating delegation, and begin direct talks with representatives of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has demonstrated strong interest in participation in key integration processes. Amid active cooperation with the EAEU, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with the Union’s member states has increased by more than 70 percent over the past four years.
Uzbekistan has held observer status with the Eurasian Economic Union since 2020 and has consistently expanded cooperation with the bloc in key areas, including digitalization, agrotechnologies, and transit and logistics.
The Eurasian Economic Union brings together five countries—Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. Within the EAEU, a single economic space has been established, ensuring the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor among the member states.
