Uzbekistan and Thailand Sign Roadmap to Develop Cooperation in Conformity Assessment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Thailand Halal Assembly 2025 is taking place in Bangkok on 18–19 December, marking an important step in the development of Uzbek–Thai cooperation in the halal sector.
Within the framework of the assembly, the State Institution “Uzbek Scientific Testing and Quality Control Center” and the Halal Science Center at Chulalongkorn University, one of Thailand’s leading universities, signed a Roadmap for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of conformity assessment for 2026–2027.
The signed document aims to elevate cooperation between the parties to a qualitatively new level and provides for the expansion of collaboration in the implementation of halal standards, testing, certification, and the development of conformity assessment systems based on modern scientific and technological approaches.
During the assembly, a presentation was delivered on the scientific approach to the halal industry. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of a strong research base in the production and evaluation of halal products as a key factor in ensuring their safety, quality, and consumer trust.
Special attention was also drawn to a new concept in the halal sector known as “Green Halal.” This approach envisages the integration of traditional halal requirements with principles of environmental sustainability, the reduction of negative environmental impact, and the promotion of responsible production practices.
The concept was demonstrated in practice through a presentation featuring a pharmaceutical enterprise.
Discussions also highlighted the critical role of laboratories as an integral component of the halal system. It was noted that high-quality and reliable laboratory testing forms the foundation of accurate and objective conformity assessment with halal requirements.
In addition, participants considered the prospects for applying blockchain technologies in halal conformity assessment processes. It was emphasized that such solutions can enhance procedural transparency, ensure data protection, and strengthen trust among manufacturers, regulators, and consumers.
It is expected that the implementation of the signed Roadmap will become an important step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Thailand in the halal industry and conformity assessment, while also contributing to the introduction of innovative and environmentally oriented forms of cooperation.
