Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Expand Industrial Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 March, a meeting was held in Tashkent between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir.
During the discussions, the ministers addressed the implementation of joint initiatives across metallurgy, the agro-industrial complex, electrical engineering, textiles, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and other priority sectors.
It was agreed to continue work on preparing industrial facilities in both countries, with the subsequent launch of production sites.
In 2025, trade between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan reached US$912.3 million, marking a 30% increase compared to the previous year. Exports totaled US$683 million, while imports amounted to US$229.3 million. Currently, more than 500 joint enterprises operate across the two countries: 386 in Uzbekistan with Tajik investment and 116 in Tajikistan with Uzbek investment.
The ministers highlighted the significant potential for further mutually beneficial cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to the consistent implementation of agreed projects.
