Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Discuss Deepening Cooperation in the Energy Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 February, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, held a meeting in Tashkent with Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan. The discussions also involved executives and responsible staff from the energy companies of both countries.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that bilateral cooperation, initiated by the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon, is today steadily and effectively developing across all areas, particularly in the energy sector.

The parties discussed the coordination of energy systems, the development of electricity networks, and increasing volumes of electricity exchange. Special attention was given to the technical aspects of the “Reconnection to the Unified Energy System of Central Asia” project.

Following the negotiations, the participants confirmed their readiness to further strengthen fraternal relations and strategic partnership, aimed at ensuring sustainable development of the energy sector for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
