Uzbekistan and Switzerland intensify trade and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 12 June 2019, a round table on Uzbek-Swiss business cooperation was held in Winterthur (Switzerland).

Switzerland is one of the significant trade partners of Uzbekistan. An important mechanism regulating trade and economic relations is the Intergovernmental Commission, which has already held its meetings eight times.

This event was organized within the framework of agreements reached within the framework of the 8th meeting of the Uzbek-Swiss Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Chamber of Commerce of Switzerland (JCC) held in Tashkent.

Within the framework of the round table, presentations were held on the trade, economic and investment potential, including the textile and garment and knitwear industries of Uzbekistan. A meeting was held with Swiss companies in the B2B format, as well as a visit to the RIETER AG factory.

In addition, in accordance with the Program for localization and optimization of imports, a project in the field of textile engineering together with the company Rieter AG in the amount of 11.0 million dollars was implemented, thanks to which Uzbekistan was included in the list of countries producing technological equipment. The Rieter Academy, which began its activities in 2015 in the city of Tashkent, provided a solid foundation for the training of national personnel of technologists for the industry.

The representative of the Association "Uztekstilprom" made a presentation on the current state and promising areas of cooperation in the textile and garment and knitwear industry.

The participants were provided with detailed information about the opportunities and benefits for investors.

This event plays an important role in the further development of interstate relations, contributing to the introduction of new technologies and developments in the textile industry of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that at present, 89 companies with investors from Switzerland, including 56 joint ventures and 33 companies with 100% foreign capital, operate in Uzbekistan.
