Uzbekistan and Switzerland Aim to Expand Economic Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 March, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Switzerland, Konstantin Obolensky.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the current state and prospects of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Special attention was given to mutual trade indicators: in 2025, trade between the two countries increased by 84%, reaching US$591.4 million. Currently, 114 Swiss-invested companies operate in Uzbekistan, highlighting growing business interest in the country.

The meeting identified priority areas for expanding collaboration with leading Swiss corporations, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, industrial automation, energy, geology and mining, and the food industry.

Preparations for the Tashkent International Investment Forum 2026 were also discussed, with plans to organize specialized events showcasing new investment projects.

The dialogue concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to deepening long-term partnership and implementing joint initiatives.
