Uzbekistan and Sweden Discuss Expanded Cooperation in Migration, Social Protection, and Humanitarian Aid

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 September 2025, Munira Aminova, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, held talks with a Swedish delegation led by Sweden’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Thomas Danestad, and Karolina Wennerholm, Director of the Department for Peace and Migration at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of migration, reintegration, and social protection, as well as the implementation of joint educational and humanitarian programs. They also touched on support for Afghanistan, including through Uzbekistan’s territory, particularly in the areas of education and social assistance.

Both sides expressed mutual interest in developing new joint projects aimed at strengthening social stability and sustainable development.

The Swedish delegation’s visit is seen as an important step in advancing Uzbek-Swedish cooperation, reinforcing the humanitarian dimension of foreign policy, and defining new avenues of partnership, including initiatives in support of Afghanistan.
