Uzbekistan and South Korea Strengthen Cooperation in the Pension Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11–12 December, negotiations were held in Tashkent between the leadership of the Pension Fund of Uzbekistan and a delegation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea, as well as the National Pension Service, focusing on the development of bilateral cooperation in the pension sector.
The meeting was attended by M. Atadjanov, Executive Director of the Pension Fund of Uzbekistan; Cho Young-hye, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea; Kwon Ki-jun, a representative of the National Pension Service; and relevant experts from both sides.
During the negotiations, the parties exchanged views on the current pension systems of Uzbekistan and South Korea, their key objectives and priorities, as well as ongoing reforms in the field of pension provision. Particular attention was paid to practical issues related to the pension rights of citizens of the two countries and possible mechanisms for their resolution.
As a result of the dialogue, the “Agreed Minutes of Negotiations between the Competent Authorities and Authorized Agencies on the Implementation of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea on Social Security” were signed.
The document is intended to establish a legal and organizational framework for further deepening cooperation in the pension sector.
The parties confirmed their interest in maintaining regular dialogue, expanding the exchange of experience, and ensuring the practical implementation of joint initiatives in the field of pension provision, which is expected to contribute to the protection of the social rights of citizens of both countries.
