Uzbekistan and South Korea Launch Grant Project to Develop Startup Ecosystem

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 December, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives from the Republic of Korea. The meeting was attended by Minister Kungirotboy Sharipov, Acting Director of the Agency for Innovation Development Asror Norov, Honorary Professor of Soonchunhyang University Seongju Baek, as well as experts from the Korea Development Institute (KDI).

The discussions focused on the grant project “Development of the Startup Ecosystem and Support for Venture Financing in Uzbekistan,” implemented under KDI’s Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP).

The parties discussed measures to support innovative entrepreneurship, improve venture financing mechanisms, and introduce advanced Korean experience in the Uzbek context. Analytical studies, regulatory initiatives, and institutional development within the framework of the project were also reviewed.

Following the meeting, an agreement was signed on the implementation of the grant project, which is expected to become an important step in strengthening Uzbekistan’s innovation ecosystem.

In addition, Korean experts conducted a seminar for specialists from relevant ministries on developing the startup environment and supporting venture financing.
