Uzbekistan and South Korea Expand Cooperation in Tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the 26th session of the UN World Tourism Organization General Assembly in Riyadh, Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, met with Kim Dae-Hyun, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.

The sides discussed prospects for expanding tourism cooperation, including the professional development of Uzbek specialists in South Korea, organizing joint educational and mentorship programs with support from KOICA, and establishing academic ties between the Samarkand International Tourism Academy and leading South Korean universities.

Special attention was given to joint projects aimed at increasing mutual tourist flows, creating comfortable conditions for Korean visitors to Uzbekistan, and promoting the cultural heritage of both countries internationally.

Following the meeting, Deputy Minister Kim Dae-Hyun highly praised Uzbekistan’s rich cultural traditions and tourism potential, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening partnership ties in the tourism sector.
