Uzbekistan and Slovenia Sign Protocol on Agricultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovenia took place in Ljubljana, marking an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.

The commission was attended by Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon, and on the Uzbek side, by Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov.

The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, transport and logistics infrastructure, agriculture, digital technologies, water management, pharmaceuticals, education, tourism, and culture.

Special attention was given to agriculture. Priority areas include the development of beekeeping, strengthening food security, implementing sustainable agricultural systems, supporting seed production and animal husbandry, modernizing machinery and mechanization, transferring advanced technologies, and jointly developing scientific research and innovations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged previously signed agreements between the Ministries of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and Slovenia and signed a protocol outlining a concrete plan of action and priorities for the upcoming period.
