Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia forge partnerships in solar energy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia Ulugbek Maksudov met with a member of the Board of Directors of GSS MEA Ltd and Advanced Inspection Services Cooperation Hasan al-Salim.

GSS MEA Ltd. is one of the largest companies in the Middle East, has many years of experience in the energy market and is able to implement complex projects for the construction of industrial-scale solar photovoltaic plants. Advanced Inspection Services Co. (AIS) is an industrial inspection company that carries out production control aimed at providing high quality services.

In the conversation, the sides discussed issues of attracting investments of these companies for the implementation of energy projects in Uzbekistan. A presentation of existing investment projects in the field of energy was held.

Of particular interest was information about the competitive bidding held in Uzbekistan for the selection of a private partner for the construction of a solar photovoltaic station (FES) with a total capacity of 100 MW in Navoi Oblast under public-private partnership conditions.

“This project is aimed at attracting more than US$1 billion in investment for the development of solar photovoltaic systems in Uzbekistan,” said the head of our country's diplomatic mission. - Potential investors were informed about plans to hold similar competitive biddings to choose a private partner for the construction of solar photovoltaic systems and in other regions of the country.

“We are witnessing with great interest the large-scale transformations in Uzbekistan, including in the energy sector,” says Hasan al-Salim. - We are ready to take part in the ongoing tender for the construction of solar photovoltaic stations in the regions of the country.

In this regard, representatives of Saudi Arabia intend to visit Uzbekistan to familiarize themselves with the investment climate, opportunities of local partners, and also to hold a presentation on the activities of the companies in order to establish close cooperation.
