Uzbekistan and Russia’s Altai Krai Review Cooperation Results for 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, Aslam Akbarov, held a meeting with the Governor of Russia’s Altai Krai, Viktor Tomenko, the Dunyo News Agency reported.
During the talks, the parties reviewed the results of Uzbek–Altai cooperation in 2025 and discussed promising areas of partnership for the coming period. Governor Viktor Tomenko stressed that Altai Krai attaches particular importance to the development of comprehensive ties with Uzbekistan.
According to him, Uzbekistan consistently ranks third among the region’s key foreign trading partners. Over the first nine months of 2025, trade turnover between Altai Krai and Uzbekistan increased by 33 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
The head of the region outlined the main areas of economic cooperation, noting that Altai Krai exports timber products, railway railcars, automotive tires, zinc concentrates, pharmaceutical products, and industrial equipment to Uzbekistan.
In the opposite direction, supplies include fruit and vegetable products, textiles, chemical compounds, and rolled metal products.
Particular attention was given to the development of business contacts. The governor noted that business missions organized by the Altai Krai Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Support Fund play an important role in this process. He emphasized that Altai industrial products, including boiler equipment, railcars, and reinforcement materials, are traditionally supplied to the Uzbek market, and also pointed to the potential for expanding cooperation in geological exploration and uranium mining.
Aslam Akbarov, for his part, confirmed the Uzbek side’s interest in deepening cooperation not only in agriculture, but also in the chemical and technological and textile sectors. He also underscored the significance of the Uzbekistan–Russia Regions Council, established at the initiative of the presidents of the two countries, as a unique platform for expanding interregional ties.
The talks also addressed the possibility of organizing a business mission of representatives from the Syrdarya Region to Altai Krai in 2026, including visits to enterprises across various industries.
