Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Agrological operator UzAgroLogistics Centers, Russian Railways Logistics and Russian Export Center (REC) signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of the Russia-Uzbekistan logistics corridor and transportation of agricultural export and import cargo in the accelerated refrigerated container trains "Agroexpress". This will allow bringing the services for the delivery of export products of the agro-industrial complex of Uzbekistan and the acceptance of oncoming import goods from Russia to a new quality level.
The first test "Agroexpress" (about 40 wagons) from Uzbekistan to Russia is planned to be launched in the fall of 2021. The same train will ensure the counter flow of imports from Russia to Uzbekistan.
The memorandum was signed by the general directors of Uzagrologistics Centers LLC, REC JSC, RZD Logistics JSC Noufalbek Sabirov, Veronika Nikishina and Dmitry Murev.
“The project was worked out by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, JSC Russian Export Center and JSC Russian Railways Logistics, which during the negotiations determined the need for bilateral assistance in the development of direct supplies of agro-food products and reducing re-export through third countries,” said Noufalbek Sabirov. - It is equally beneficial for both suppliers in Uzbekistan and end consumers in Russia. The document defines the transportation routes from the Selyatino station in Russia to the Chukursay and Sergeli stations in Uzbekistan, and also provides for the possibility of expanding coverage at the expense of other directions. "
The document provides for mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties in the development and support of the Russia-Uzbekistan logistics corridor project through the launch of Agroexpress express railway container trains and, in general, improving the logistics of agricultural products. In addition, the document implies the implementation by the parties of other joint projects in the development of non-resource non-energy exports, the export of transport services, as well as the promotion of other related works and services.
"In the first quarter of 2021, export deliveries from Russia to Uzbekistan increased by five percent, reaching almost one billion dollars. The full launch of the project will form mutually beneficial target routes and provide Russian exporters with an integrated logistics service and an uninterrupted channel for the supply of Russian products to Uzbekistan, which can have a qualitative impact. on the annual indicators of the trade turnover of the two countries as a whole ", - emphasized Veronika Nikishina.
In turn, Dmitry Murev noted the great potential for organizing a regular service between Russia and Uzbekistan by Russian Railways Logistics, the more important is the use of rail transport as a more reliable and environmentally friendly method of delivery compared to road transport. According to him, the possibility of using specialized rolling stock will guarantee the safety of even the most sensitive to transportation of goods, and the organization of an effective continuous logistics chain from Russia to Uzbekistan and back will open up opportunities for a significant increase in the indicators of trade between Russia and Uzbekistan. In the past 2020, this indicator increased by more than 15% compared to 2019.
