Uzbekistan and Russia Near Final Agreement on WTO Accession — Azizbek Urunov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Presidential Representative for World Trade Organization (WTO) Affairs, Azizbek Urunov, announced significant progress in negotiations with the Russian side on the remaining issues related to the country’s WTO accession.

According to Urunov, a “very productive meeting” was held last week in Moscow with the Russian negotiation team.

“The negotiations are at the final stage: all substantial elements have been agreed upon, and only a few technical points require final verification and confirmation,” Urunov said.

He expressed gratitude to Russian Economy Minister Maxim Reshetnikov, Department Director Ekaterina Mayorova, Ambassador Nikolay Platonov, and the entire Russian team for their “clear stance on key issues” and constructive dialogue throughout the process.

Urunov expects to finalize the agreement with the Russian side during the WTO General Council meeting scheduled for December in Geneva.

Following this, Uzbekistan will complete remaining bilateral negotiations with Chinese Taipei.

This week, the Uzbek delegation is holding meetings in Washington to advance bilateral cooperation and issues related to WTO accession.
