Uzbekistan and Russia expand joint technopark network
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Expanding the network of joint industrial sites remains a key focus of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, officials said during the fifth meeting of the Working Group on Increasing Trade between the two countries, held in Tashkent.
Alexey Mikhailov told Trend that existing technoparks in Chirchik and Jizzakh are already showing tangible results. With infrastructure investments exceeding US$30 million, these sites host around 30 resident companies and have created more than 2,000 jobs.
He added that both sides are now working on expanding the network of industrial zones and launching new industrial cooperation projects. Notably, the government of Bashkortostan is proposing the creation of a new technopark, “Bekabad,” in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Region.
Meanwhile, existing infrastructure in other regions continues to develop. Two additional technoparks are planned in Navoi Region and Bukhara Region, covering a combined area of over 130,000 square meters. In Navoi, two production buildings have already been completed and will be leased to resident companies. One of these buildings, approximately 40,000 square meters, is in the final stages of completion.
Officials view the expansion of industrial sites as a key instrument for deepening industrial cooperation and attracting new investment between Uzbekistan and Russia.
