Uzbekistan and Russia Expand Cooperation in the Fisheries Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent hosted the second session of the Uzbek-Russian Joint Commission on Fisheries, which has become a key platform for modernizing the industry, expanding scientific and technical cooperation, and launching new joint projects.

The Uzbek delegation included Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kakhramon Yuldashev along with representatives of relevant agencies and organizations. The Russian side was led by Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Andrei Yakovlev and members of the joint commission.

The session reviewed the outcomes of the first meeting held in Moscow and assessed the progress made in implementing previously reached agreements. It was noted that bilateral project activity has increased significantly and that the forms of practical cooperation have expanded.

Special attention was given to a presentation on the current state of Uzbekistan’s fisheries sector, the operation of existing clusters, the introduction of modern technologies, and the industry’s development prospects.

The Russian side expressed interest in expanding aquaculture, developing productive fish breeds, and enhancing the export potential of Uzbek enterprises.

The two sides also discussed the results of joint projects, accumulated experience, and new initiatives, including the adoption of innovative fish-farming technologies, the establishment of joint research centers, specialist training, and the exchange of practical expertise.

At the conclusion of the session, the parties agreed to deepen cooperation in the fisheries sector, expand ongoing projects, and develop new areas of joint work aimed at improving industry efficiency and strengthening bilateral ties.
