Uzbekistan and Russia Discuss Regulation of Labor Migration
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the implementation of the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 17 October 2024, No. 367 “On Additional Measures to Regulate Labor Activity Abroad,” Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullaev held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan, Alexey Erkhov.
The parties discussed measures to streamline labor migration of Uzbek citizens to Russia, including the resumption of the “pilot project.”
Under this initiative, migration procedures, medical examinations, and the Russian language exam will be conducted at branches of Russian universities in Tashkent and Jizzakh. Language, history, and Russian law study centers will be established, and Russian educators and vocational training specialists will be engaged to prepare personnel within Uzbekistan’s professional education system.
Special attention was given to ensuring the rights of Uzbek citizens are respected during migration checks, both for law-abiding workers and for those violating regulations.
An agreement was reached to hold regular working group meetings to promptly address emerging issues and better manage migration flows.
