Uzbekistan and Russia Discuss Bilateral Defense Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the CIS Defense Ministers Council meeting, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov held talks with Uzbek Defense Minister Lieutenant General Shukhrat Kalmukhamedov.
Belousov emphasized that Russia and Uzbekistan are strategic partners and long-standing friends. He highlighted that military cooperation between the two countries plays a key role in maintaining stability in Central Asia and expressed readiness to expand collaboration in areas of interest to Uzbekistan.
Lieutenant General Kalmukhamedov thanked his Russian counterpart for the warm welcome and the high level of organization of the CIS Defense Ministers Council meeting. He noted that the discussions covered pressing issues on the international agenda and the further development of bilateral military cooperation.
The negotiations were conducted in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, with both sides agreeing to continue working on strengthening defense and security collaboration.
