Uzbekistan and Rowan University Deepen Cooperation in Education and Innovation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 October, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, President of Rowan University, one of the leading universities in the United States.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in education, science, and innovation, including the development of the Rowan University Center, operating within the Nordic International University in Tashkent.
Currently, under joint “1+3” undergraduate and “1+1” master’s programs, students from Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries study both in Tashkent and the United States, earning American-style diplomas in engineering, IT, medicine, and business administration.
Particular attention was given to implementing the “cooperative education” model, which combines academic studies with practical training at enterprises.
This approach supports youth employment and helps develop highly qualified specialists who meet the demands of the modern labor market.
The parties also expressed interest in promoting student entrepreneurship, commercializing innovations, and further applying advanced American educational practices in Uzbekistan.
