Uzbekistan and Qatar Agree to Expand Cooperation in Higher Education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Samarkand, within the framework of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, Kungiratbay Sharipov, held a meeting with Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, Lolwah bint Rashid Al-Khater.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in higher education, science, and innovation. Special attention was given to creating conditions for Qatari students to study at Uzbek universities, as well as to exchanging best practices in training and professional development.
It was noted that in recent years, interaction between universities of the two states has been actively developing, particularly in the joint training of specialists and implementation of scientific projects. The Uzbek side presented several initiatives, including the launch of student exchange programs, development of mechanisms for mutual recognition of master’s and doctoral degrees, joint scientific research, participation in international conferences, and establishment of joint educational programs and scientific laboratories.
The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in priority areas such as artificial intelligence and digital technologies, green economy and sustainable development, renewable energy, food security and agri-biotechnology, oil and gas industry, and engineering.
Both sides agreed to begin practical implementation of the proposed initiatives in the near future, thereby strengthening their strategic partnership in the field of education and science.
