Uzbekistan and Paraguay Step Up Trade and Economic Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During an official working visit to Paraguay, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held a series of meetings in Asunción aimed at intensifying trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The visit included negotiations with the ministers of industry and trade, livestock, and geology, as well as with the leadership of Paraguay’s National Electricity Administration (ANDE).
Discussions focused on gradually expanding mutual market access, increasing trade turnover, developing joint cooperation in agribusiness, energy, mining, chemical, and textile industries, and establishing an institutional framework for collaboration.
Particular attention was given to boosting trade volumes, organizing regular deliveries of meat products, expanding exports of Uzbek fertilizers and textiles, and implementing joint projects under the “Maquila” regime to access MERCOSUR markets.
Additionally, the parties agreed to establish an intergovernmental commission and to prepare an industrial cooperation program for 2026–2027.
During a roundtable with the heads of leading Paraguayan companies, concrete investment projects were discussed, along with practical steps for implementing the agreements reached.
