Uzbekistan and Pakistan to Strengthen Economic and IT Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the 24th CARES Ministerial Conference in Bishkek, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

During the talks, the parties focused on developing economic partnership. It was noted that over the first ten months of 2025, bilateral trade reached nearly US$450 million, with Uzbekistan’s exports accounting for US$320 million.

Investment cooperation continues to expand, with joint initiatives underway in the textile, pharmaceutical, perfumery, chemical, and agricultural sectors.

Uzbekistan is promoting its projects in Pakistan, including the production of household appliances, tractors, and the implementation of “smart” meters and gas blocks.

Special attention was given to digital cooperation. The sides highlighted the potential for collaboration in the IT sector, expressing interest in fostering partnerships between technology companies, developing new products, and expanding business contacts.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to intensify practical cooperation and prepare a comprehensive plan of bilateral ICT initiatives aimed at expanding technological partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
