Uzbekistan and Pakistan Discuss Development of Multimodal Transportation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yullari,” JSC “Temiryul Cargo,” and the Pakistani company SLG Trax Group Limited held a meeting to discuss the prospects for developing multimodal transportation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as measures to expand logistics capacity and strengthen regional transit cooperation.
During the talks, the parties thoroughly examined the potential of the “Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan” transport corridor, discussed attracting new cargo flows, launching container trains, optimizing logistics services, and establishing competitive freight tariffs.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring the uninterrupted and safe movement of goods. The strategic significance of the region and its potential for accessing the South Asian market were emphasized.
The advantages of Uzbekistan as a key logistics hub in Central Asia were highlighted. The parties agreed on the development of multimodal services using routes through third countries and on establishing unified approaches in this area.
Uzbekistan reaffirmed its commitment to a policy of open and mutually beneficial cooperation, aimed at strengthening trade and transport links, developing new logistics directions, and enhancing the efficiency of international freight transportation.
