Uzbekistan and Pakistan Discuss Cooperation in Education and Science
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 November 2025, in Samarkand, within the framework of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kungiratboy Sharipov, met with the Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Wajiha Qamar.
During the talks, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in education, science, and vocational training, as well as academic exchanges between students and faculty.
Kungiratboy Sharipov presented detailed information on the ongoing educational reforms in Uzbekistan, measures aimed at strengthening scientific potential, and initiatives to support innovation. He emphasized the country’s priorities in improving the quality of vocational education and training specialists for key sectors of the economy.
For her part, Wajiha Qamar expressed strong interest in Uzbekistan’s experience in vocational education, noting that the exchange of knowledge and technology would bring substantial benefits to both countries. She also expressed her intention to apply Uzbekistan’s best practices to support the development of Pakistan’s private education sector.
The parties explored opportunities for cooperation in medicine, textiles, and industrial production, as well as in implementing distance learning projects, ensuring youth employment, and sharing experience in labor migration management.
As a result of the meeting, the sides reached agreements on the joint training of highly qualified specialists, the implementation of scientific and practical projects, and the organization of international competitions and initiatives in the field of vocational education.
