Uzbekistan and NVIDIA Launch Joint Initiatives in Artificial Intelligence

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, held talks with the leadership of NVIDIA during an official visit to the United States. The discussions focused on advancing cooperation to strengthen the country’s artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology infrastructure.

The partnership envisions comprehensive initiatives, including knowledge exchange, development of educational programs, and the creation of advanced AI infrastructure.

A key area of collaboration will be the sharing of expertise. NVIDIA will provide Uzbek specialists with access to its best practices in AI governance, ecosystem development, and the implementation of international standards using open data.

Special emphasis is placed on education and human capital development. Plans are underway to establish an AI Excellence Center, leveraging NVIDIA’s technologies and educational solutions. The center will serve as a platform for training educators, reskilling specialists, and conducting research programs in AI.

AI infrastructure development is another critical focus. The Ministry of Digital Technologies aims to complete the design and technical assessment of two AI clusters totaling up to one megawatt by 2026. One cluster will support educational and research purposes, while the other will be dedicated to projects in digital government, healthcare, and industry.

In parallel, the government has announced national initiatives to promote widespread AI adoption, including the installation of NVIDIA AI infrastructure in leading universities, equipping them with state-of-the-art supercomputing systems. Funding for this project has already been allocated, with procurement planned for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Efforts are also underway to integrate AI educational programs into higher education institutions. Faculty members will undergo training through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute, enabling them to obtain international certification and advanced competencies in machine learning.

The next phase involves deploying NVIDIA AI solutions in industry and the public sector. In 2026, additional computing infrastructure will be rolled out at industrial enterprises, banks, and government institutions. The project will require up to one megawatt of computing capacity and the necessary financial resources.

Simultaneously, the government plans to invest approximately $3 million in establishing an industrial AI Excellence Center, which will develop solutions in digital twins, robotics, and industrial AI technologies using NVIDIA hardware and software platforms. The center’s launch is scheduled for 2026.

Cooperation with NVIDIA represents a major step in integrating global AI expertise with Uzbekistan’s national strategic priorities, aimed at building a sustainable and innovative digital economy.
