Uzbekistan and Mongolia Sign Broad Cooperation Agreements Ranging from Environment to Higher Education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following high-level talks in Ulaanbaatar between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, a Joint Declaration was signed establishing a comprehensive partnership between the two nations — a milestone in strengthening their strategic cooperation.
In the presence of both heads of state, a substantial package of bilateral agreements was concluded, covering a wide range of cooperation areas. These include agreements on plant quarantine and protection, higher education, the mining industry, environmental protection, healthcare and medical science, physical culture and sports, as well as on preventing and combating crime.
A cooperation protocol between the national archives of the two countries was also signed, highlighting a mutual commitment to deepening humanitarian and historical-documentary ties.
Of particular importance are the signed programs and interagency cooperation plans: between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2026–2027, between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and Mongolia’s Ministry of Economy and Development, and between the Ministries of Culture of both countries for 2025–2028.
Agriculture was identified as a priority area, with a Joint Action Plan signed between the respective ministries to expand partnership in the sector.
Additionally, an Action Plan for the development of ecotourism was adopted between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and Mongolia’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth.
The comprehensive set of agreements solidifies the shared determination of both countries to deepen multifaceted cooperation aimed at achieving tangible outcomes and strengthening the friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Mongolia.
