Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tleukhany Aubakir, Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Protection of Mongolia, held a working meeting with Zulaykho Makhkamova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs, the Mongolian National News Agency (MONTSAME) reports.

During the talks, the parties exchanged experiences in promoting women’s employment, increasing their social engagement, and achieving gender equality. Minister Aubakir noted that in 2024, Mongolia established a Ministry of Family Affairs, tasked with comprehensively protecting the rights of women and children, alongside improving the relevant legal framework.

Deputy Prime Minister Makhkamova emphasized that Uzbekistan is also actively working to support women, expand their participation in public life, and develop women’s entrepreneurship. She highlighted that the Committee on Women and Family Affairs provides preferential loans, organizes free training programs, and supports women in business development.

The meeting also addressed international gender equality rankings. According to the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index as of January 2024, Mongolia ranked 85th out of 143 countries, while Uzbekistan demonstrated strong results: first place among 20 countries in women’s education and healthcare, 43rd in economic participation, and 133rd in political representation.

Special attention was given to women’s representation in politics. In Mongolia, the share of female deputies in the Great State Khural from 2020 to 2024 was 17.4%, which increased to 32 members following the 2024 elections. The parties emphasized the significant potential for bilateral exchange of experience and joint efforts to further expand women’s participation in socio-political life.

The discussions took place in a spirit of constructive cooperation and opened new opportunities to strengthen Uzbekistan–Mongolia collaboration in gender policy and social development.
