Uzbekistan and MIT Kuo Sharper Discuss Development of Digital Ecosystem
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, together with representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan headed by CEO Abdulahad Kuchkarov, held a meeting with Shamil Ibragimov, resident researcher at the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation aimed at supporting Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen its national digital and innovation ecosystem. Special attention was given to promoting innovation-driven growth, developing entrepreneurial competencies, and facilitating knowledge exchange between Uzbek specialists and experts from the MIT Kuo Sharper Center.
Shamil Ibragimov noted that Uzbekistan has achieved significant progress in building a dynamic digital economy. He emphasized the Center’s interest in developing a partnership to further strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem and expressed readiness to collaborate on identifying specific areas of cooperation.
The MIT Kuo Sharper Center has prior experience in joint initiatives with Uzbekistan. For instance, under the MIT Tech Leaders Lab program, digital leaders were trained from among the staff of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and other relevant organizations. The program focused on developing managerial skills and strategic thinking. In addition, the Center participated in ICT Week 2025, which further strengthened collaboration with the emerging IT ecosystem of the country.
The MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship (formerly the Legatum Center at MIT) operates within the MIT Sloan School of Management. The Center serves as a leading academic platform promoting innovation-based entrepreneurship in developing economies. Its mission is to foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth through education, mentorship, and integration into the global expert community.
