Uzbekistan and Meta Discuss Development of Inclusive Digital Economy and Safe AI Models

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, held talks with Sarim Aziz, Meta’s Director for Public Policy in South and Central Asian countries.

During the meeting, the Meta representative outlined the company’s activities in the region and expressed readiness to develop cooperation in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the creation of an inclusive digital economy.

Rustam Karimjonov briefed the interlocutors on the objectives of the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, including measures to increase IT services exports and expand collaboration with leading U.S. technology companies.

He also presented initiatives in IT education and described national programs such as “One Million AI Prompters” and “Zero Risk,” aimed at supporting foreign investors and developing the IT business sector in the country.

Meta representatives highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s progress in the field of information and communication technologies, noting that favorable conditions are being created for domestic companies to enter global digital markets. Special attention was given to the importance of fostering an open innovation environment and developing competencies in artificial intelligence.

The parties also discussed information security, personal data protection, and the safe development of AI technologies. Meta presented several educational initiatives and expressed readiness to implement joint programs with Uzbek universities, including scholarship projects and pilot research studies.

At the conclusion of the talks, an agreement was reached to expand partnership in the fields of artificial intelligence, IT education, and the digital economy, as well as to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration.
