Uzbekistan and Malaysia Elevate Cooperation in Medical Devices

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Temirov, Director of the Uzbekistan Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety, held a working meeting with representatives of the Malaysian Medical Device Authority (MDA).

During the discussions, both sides explored prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of medical devices, exchanging international best practices, and improving regulatory systems.

Particular attention was paid to the development of the legal and regulatory framework, safe implementation of modern technologies in healthcare, mutual recognition of regulatory decisions, and the application of regulatory reliance principles.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Uzbekistan Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety and MDA, marking a new stage in cooperation and promoting unified approaches to medical device regulation.

The agreement provides for joint work on enhancing regulatory systems, developing human capital, expanding scientific and practical collaboration, and implementing standards aligned with international requirements.

Alisher Temirov emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan’s active participation in global medical device regulatory initiatives and proposed hosting the GHWP General Assembly in Tashkent in 2026.

These measures elevate strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in medicine and pharmaceuticals, strengthen international trust, and contribute to the improved safety of medical devices in national and regional markets.
