Uzbekistan and Malaysia Agree to Expand Tourism Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting of tour operators from Uzbekistan and Malaysia aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur, the Dunyo News Agency reports.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysian actress and television host Adrea Abdullah, representatives of leading tourism companies in the country, as well as Daler Yusupov, Uzbekistan’s Tourism Brand Ambassador in Malaysia.
Addressing the participants, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev provided a detailed overview of the reforms being implemented in the republic’s tourism sector, measures to accelerate the development of the industry, and efforts to create favorable conditions for foreign visitors. It was noted that Uzbekistan has introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of more than 90 countries, including Malaysia, as part of its strategy to attract tourists.
Particular attention was paid to improving transport connectivity. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan Airways, Batik Air, and AirAsia operate direct flights between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur seven times a week, significantly expanding opportunities for tourism exchanges between the two countries.
Participants were given comprehensive information on tourism services offered by Uzbek companies, as well as on the tourism potential of the Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorezm, and Tashkent regions and the capital city. Various tour package formats were presented, including pilgrimage, gastronomic, winter, and MICE tourism.
As part of B2B negotiations between tour operators from both countries, specific agreements were reached on the active promotion of Uzbek tourism products in the Malaysian market. These efforts are expected to contribute to an increase in tourist flows and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
