Uzbekistan and Lithuania Discuss Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the Third EU–Central Asia Economic Forum, a meeting took place between Tadas Valys, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and Akram Aliev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.

The parties noted the growing potential for bilateral cooperation and the need to implement more flexible mechanisms for collaboration.

Key topics included expanding trade and economic contacts and launching new initiatives to give additional momentum to bilateral relations. The participants agreed on guidelines for practical cooperation and confirmed their mutual interest in accelerating the implementation of joint projects.

Special attention was given to preparing for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2026, to be held in Lithuania. The sides exchanged views on priority issues to ensure that the upcoming session becomes an important milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation.

At the conclusion of the dialogue, the participants confirmed their readiness for closer coordination, expanding opportunities in trade, investment, and economic partnership, and agreed to explore additional initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties strategically.
