Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the ongoing meeting of Central Asian agriculture ministers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, held a meeting with Asel Kenembayeva, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the discussion, the parties reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation, analyzed the current state of joint projects, and considered their expansion and the launch of practical initiatives in new areas.

They emphasized the need for the rational use of water and land resources, the exchange of best practices in potato cultivation, the modernization of seed growing and storage systems, as well as the development of animal husbandry and implementation of joint programs.

Special attention was given to the introduction of digital technologies in agriculture. Uzbekistan’s experience in digitalizing the agricultural sector in recent years, particularly achievements through the Agroplatforma and Agrosug‘urta systems, was highly appreciated.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in applying these approaches in its own territory.

The parties agreed to intensify cooperation between research institutions, organize exchanges of young specialists, modernize the agricultural education system, and strengthen working groups to address specific tasks within existing joint projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov and Asel Kenembayeva emphasized the importance of agricultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for ensuring regional sustainable development and agreed on concrete steps to translate joint initiatives into practical action.
