Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan note positive dynamics in process of delimitation of state borders

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan held a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state borders in Bishkek on 16 August.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov attended the meeting.

According to the press service of the Government of Kyrgyzstan, the parties noted the positive dynamics in the process of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.

It was noted that from August 2016 to August 2017, 15 meetings of working groups of governmental delegations were held and a draft description of draft passage line of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border was developed.

Vice Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov noted that the visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and the holding of meetings of the two intergovernmental commissions will lay a good foundation for development of bilateral relations.

"The leadership of Uzbekistan has an understanding on all issues of cooperation and intention to solve the tasks, which we are facing,” Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhenish Razakov commented.

In the result of the talks, the sides made significant progress in preparation of an interstate agreement on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state borders, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov said.

Abdulla Aripov said that during his meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev, the sides hold open dialogue. The sides exchanged views on many issues of bilateral agenda and pay special attention to the most topical issues. The Uzbek side is satisfied with the results of fruitful negotiations, which were held in open, friendly and constructive atmosphere, Aripov said.

He stressed that the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev devotes a priority to the strengthening of bilateral relations with neighboring countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic.

Abdulla Aripov noted that Uzbekistan invariably remains committed to an open, benevolent and pragmatic policy towards Kyrgyzstan on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, good-neighborliness and consideration of the national interests of the two countries.

He also stressed that Uzbekistan has the firm political will to continue a confidential open dialogue in all spheres of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and to direct the necessary efforts to strengthen the multi-faceted Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Speaking about the talks, Abdulla Aripov noted that the key issues of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations, prospects for further expansion and deepening of cooperation in various fields were discussed.

Uzbek Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with talks on legal registration of the bilateral borders. He said that the sides signed corresponding protocol.

“We instructed the relevant departments of the two countries to work out issues of further increasing the volume of mutual trade and diversifying its structure, enhancing investment cooperation and developing links between businesses and regions. We have all prerequisites for significantly increasing the volumes of mutual trade turnover in the near future, expanding potential of transport communications and jointly solving the tasks, which we are facing,” Aripov said.

Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov said that the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further development of cooperation in science, education, health, culture and arts, tourism, sports and other areas.

After the talks, the sides signed a protocol of the 8th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan and a protocol No. 31 of the joint meeting of the governmental delegations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek borders.
