Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Agree to Expand Trade and Economic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A CARES business forum is currently underway in Bishkek, during which Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Commerce, Bakyt Sydykov.

The ministers discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, industrial collaboration, and the implementation of joint initiatives.

According to the ministries, bilateral trade has shown steady growth. From January to September 2025, mutual trade increased by 14.7%, reaching US$672.8 million, compared with US$846.1 million for the full year of 2024.

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to prepare a program for industrial cooperation and to compile a list of strategic projects aimed at further developing economic ties.

The parties confirmed their intention to deepen partnership and continue coordination ahead of an upcoming high-level visit.

The current bilateral agenda also includes organizing reciprocal visits of leadership, activating the work of the Intergovernmental Commission, strengthening interregional contacts, and expanding trade flows by leveraging the logistics potential of both countries.

Key topics of discussion included industrial cooperation projects and the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Fund, including plans for automobile production in Kyrgyzstan, energy initiatives, and the implementation of regional transport projects within the framework of CARES cooperation.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to further strengthen economic partnership and advance joint initiatives aimed at accelerating regional development.
