Uzbekistan and Kuwait Strengthen Economic Cooperation through Business Forum and Intergovernmental Talks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 13 to 15 December, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, conducted an official working visit to the State of Kuwait.

During the visit, he held meetings with representatives of the Kuwaiti government, business community, and financial institutions, and participated in the second session of the Uzbek-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Joint Commission.

The discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors, logistics and trade, supply of aviation fuel for Uzbek airlines, expansion of fruit and vegetable exports, as well as mutual recognition of standards and laboratory accreditation.

Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Oil and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Electricity and Water Resources, and financial and investment authorities of Kuwait.

Special attention was given to deepening investment cooperation, expanding bilateral trade, and the initiative to establish the “SSZ – Central Asia” Development Fund.

During the commission session, both sides confirmed their interest in implementing the agreements reached and advancing practical cooperation.

A key highlight of the visit was the Uzbek-Kuwaiti Business Forum and the “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition, showcasing opportunities of Uzbek companies.

Over the past five years, trade turnover between the two countries has increased more than fivefold. Promising areas of cooperation include the agro-industrial complex, petrochemicals, infrastructure, transport and logistics, digital and financial services.

In addition, meetings were held with Kuwaiti businesses in e-commerce, Islamic finance, construction, industry, and healthcare sectors.

As a result of the visit, a series of bilateral documents were signed, laying the foundation for further strengthening of economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait.
