Uzbekistan and Korea Strengthen Strategic Cooperation in Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Within the framework of the II Korea–Uzbekistan University Rectors Forum, Uzokboy Begimkulov, Director of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Higher Education System, met with Park Seong-min, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the achievements of bilateral cooperation, including the operation of Korean university branches in Uzbekistan, the growth of Korean language centers, an increase in the number of students studying Korean, and the education of over 16,000 Uzbek students in South Korea.

The parties also discussed an initiative to establish the Uzbek-Korean Center for AI in Education, which has received support from Korea and will be further evaluated by experts.

It was agreed that the Rectors Forum would be held every two years, and this decision will be included in the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the ministries of education of the two countries.

Park Seong-min confirmed Korea’s readiness to expand Korean language education in Uzbekistan, including sending teachers to schools, establishing Korean-language classes, and providing teaching materials.

Teacher training workshops will be conducted in Tashkent, while practical sessions will take place in South Korea.
