Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan resume automobile communication along M-39 highway
The checkpoints are open for individuals and cars to pass in a simplified procedure.
Total time for passing control and clearance will take no more than 7 minutes. Passage of commercial cargo through these points is prohibited.
As a result of the launch of the checkpoints, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan resumed the road connection along the M-39 highway, which would shorten travel time between Tashkent and Samarkand.
The opening of new checkpoints on the Kazakh-Uzbek border will contribute to further strengthening of cooperation between the countries.
Citizens of Uzbekistan would pass these checkpoints on simplified procedure. The citizens will undergo passport and customs inspection.
The highway M-39 was closed in 2006. It created difficulties for population movement, including to travel between Tashkent and Samarkand.
After launch of the road, citizens of Tashkent can travel to Samarkand, bypassing road via Jizzakh. The travel distance between Tashkent and Samarkand will decrease from 89 to 24.5 km.
