Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Elevate Cooperation in Oil and Gas Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 October 2025, a meeting took place in Astana between Bahodirjon Sidikov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbekneftegaz,” and Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “KazMunayGas.”
During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the further development of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas industry and strengthening strategic partnership. Particular attention was given to prospects for implementing the linear alkylbenzene (LAB) production project at the “Uzbekistan GTL” plant.
The meeting also covered opportunities for participation in joint projects in Kazakhstan’s petrochemical sector, emphasizing the need to involve international partners for thorough analysis and effective project implementation.
A key topic was the processing of hydrocarbon raw materials at Uzbekneftegaz facilities under tolling arrangements. Participants noted that this initiative would create high added value, expand local production, and foster cooperation in related industries.
Joint geological exploration activities were also highlighted as an important area for collaboration. Both companies expressed their intention to expand cooperation in this field and outlined specific steps for the development of joint projects.
The meeting concluded with an acknowledgment that the agreements reached mark a new phase of reliable and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekneftegaz and KazMunayGas, contributing to the strengthening of strategic energy cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
